For
nina79, who wants to get a jump start on her winter holiday icon projects. :) There's 40+ brushes in various fonts; winter and winter holiday themes with a little religious diversity:

» JBR (PSP 7)
» pspBrush (PSP X)
» ABR (PS CS2)
» Image Pack (40+)
» GIMP
» All-In-One Image Pack (png)

And, in case you missed it, these brushes were also used on the examples in this resource post.
Edited to add the fonts used to make these brushes are 1) Pussycat, at 8 point and kerning either 50 or 100; 2) Violation, at 9/10 point with no kerning; 3) Porky's at 10 point and kerning either 50 or 100; 4) Edwardian Script at 18 point and no kerning; 5) Jane Austen at either 8, 10, or 12 point, with no kerning; 6) Jenkins v2.0 at either 12 or 14 point and usually no kerning, though sometimes I set the kerning to 25; and 7) Georgia, all caps, at either 5 or 6 point. Kerning for this one is usually 150, but sometimes I'll use 50, 100, or 250 -- and sometimes I'll go crazy and italicize the text. ;)
For PSP users, I add text on a new layer, blend mode normal at 100% opacity, and then I duplicate the layer and lower the opacity between 30% and 50%. I sometimes sharpen the second layer. All this darkens the lighter tiny text and makes it a little easier to read.
Thanks to
nina79 for converting oodles of little images to the CS PS2 abr file!
Edited add thanks to
lied_ohne_worte for posting the GIMP version of these brushes at here over at

The script font for those is Jane Austen, which you can download over at www.dafont.com right here. :)
In the first one is Pussycat at 8 point, and kerning at either 100 or 150.
The second one is Georgia, all caps, 5 point, and kerning is usually 50, 100, 150, or 250 -- depending on how much text I'm using. In that one, I think it's 150 kerning.
((In PSP, I find it works best to add the text on a new layer, at blend mode normal at 100% opacity, then duplicate the layer and lower the opacity somewhere between 30% and 50%, to make it a little darker, and also sharpen it. I think PS manages text more efficiently that PSP, though.))
The third one is Violation at 9 or 10 point, and no kerning.
The fourth one is some random decorative initial "S" and then Georgia, at a larger size and probably around 100 or 150 kerning. I can't remember exactly.
Ha! Well, now you have lots of info you don't need. ;)
You never know... What do you mean by kerning? There's still loads of stuff to learn, even if this is for PSP, and I'm using PS CS2, there might be something similar to that. :-)
Leading is the amount of space between lines of text, which you can also adjust. :)

Thank you!

I have never used brushes before, but your xmas ones look like such a great place to start! Will definitely be exploring some more.
Thanks again XD
