PSP Brushes: Old Things

  • Aug. 4th, 2007 at 4:59 PM
Let It Snow
I was in the mood to make a bunch of historical-themed brushes because I hit on a motherlode of public domain images and couldn't resist playing around with them. None of them are icon-sized. Although I'm only uploading one set today, there's four in total: Magic Symbols, Monograms/Crosses/Flourishes, Anglo Saxon Alphabet, and Old Things.

Old Things is the biggest set, and there are two versions available. One is for PSP7 and the other is for PSPX. I did this because of the size restriction differences between the two programs for making brushes. For PSP7, no brush can exceed 255x255 pixels. In PSPX, the limit is 500x500 pixels.

The PSP7 File:

Download: JBR/Images

Please note the preview images are reduced in size and don't include all the brushes, just as many as I could squeeze in without making it look too muddy. :)

Download: pspBrush Files || Images

I broke this set into separate files for the brushes and images because they're big files, even when compressed.

Hope you'll find 'em useful. :) Photoshop users should download the images for the PSPX version and make brushes from those.

Yay for off-topic comments!

So, at Otakon this year, a girl from the forums (can't remember what her name there is, it's been so long XD) and I hosted a Last Exile panel. We filled up -half the room- on a SUNDAY. It was awesome.

Just thought you should know XD

Yes, yay for for off-topicness. That sounds like it must have been fun. I hope someone posts the results to the forum; it could use a little activity these days and the Board Momma is swamped with real life (as usual.)

Hope all is well with you. Are you coming up on your senior year this year??

Give me a link? I seem to have lost it >.>

And things are fine. Yep, senior year is about to start. @.@; College application processes scare me...

It's here:

Well, good luck in your final year! Jerott graduated last year and is heading off to college in a few weeks. He's finding the paperwork, bureaucracy, and the whole notion of financial aid and work study to be a bit...overwhelming. :)

Snagging the PSPX ones, thank you! I think they should work in PSP9 because the size limit is 500x500 there, too.

Oh, good! I wasn't sure on what the restrictions might be for PSP 8 and PSP 9, but hopefully these will work for you.

I was just looking through the comments after downloading these brushes, and I just thought that I'd tell you the PSPX brushes work just fine in PSP 9. I'll try them out in 8 when I go home next week and get back to you, if you'd like.

Oh, and thank you so much--I've been hunting for larger-than-icon-sized brushes for ages without much luck. I've taken both the "Old Things" and "Crosses" brushes.

Thanks for the comment letting me know about this is; it's helpful! And yes, please do let me know if they work in PSP 8 as well, and I'll make a note of this somewhere on journal for others who might not be sure about compatibility between the various PSP versions.

BTW, did you just drop the PSPX brushes into your brushes directory or did you import them?

(This is my personal journal--I'm too lazy to log out and into [info]fribble_icons just to leave a comment.)

The PSPX brushes worked just as well in PSP 8, so no worries there. Glad to help in any way I can.

Oh, I imported them--didn't know that I could just drop them into the directory...

Since I'm already leaving you a comment, I would show you a wallpaper I made using a few of the brushes from "Old Things", but I made it for a contest that's still going on, and I can't post it until it ends on the 10th. Sorry!

That's good to know, thanks for coming back and letting me know! Hope your wallpaper did well in the contest. :)

You're welcome.

And it did do well: it placed second. :-)

Congrats; it looks great! And sorry I didn't respond earlier; misfiled this comment notice. Sigh...sometimes I should just give up trying to organize myself.

Yay! Nice to see some new things from you. :) Just a quick question -- if I'm using PSP 9, that means I would have to download the PSP 7 brushes, correct?

Well, I'm not sure! A few comments up, someone who uses PSP 9 says they think the size limits are the same, so the pspBrush files might work fine for. I say grab 'em both and give it a try. :)
